Cursed amulets are a confirmed danger in WEST WOOD: REMAKE. The enabled official badge “It Follows…” is awarded for dying to the spirit summoned by a cursed amulet. This description establishes the amulet, a summoned spirit, and a death condition. It does not publish the amulet’s appearance, location, activation method, spirit behavior, escape rule, or additional rewards.
Treat the badge as an optional hazardous objective, not a normal beginner task. If you only want to survive or preserve a season streak, do not activate an unidentified object merely to discover whether it is cursed.
Decide whether to attempt the objective
Separate intentional badge work from ordinary progression. A player protecting supplies, a rare crate, reputation research, or a no-death season should not be the tester. Use a low-stakes run and accept that the official condition explicitly requires death to the summoned spirit.
Check whether you already own the badge before sacrificing a run. Tell the squad what the test is for. Choose a meeting point for surviving players and decide what happens to any dropped or carried inventory.
Do not promise that the death has no other penalty. Reputation, risk, items, streaks, and respawn behavior are not specified by the badge description.
Identify the live amulet cautiously
Use the current item name, description, icon, and interaction prompt. Do not identify a cursed amulet solely from an original-game image or a player’s nickname for an object. If the live text does not clearly identify it, record the uncertainty.
Before pickup or use, note location, time, season, inventory weight, nearby players, and visible status values. Clear unrelated objectives from the tester’s inventory where the game allows it.
Avoid activating in a crowded doorway or at the group’s only shelter. Give observers an exit and avoid blocking their camera or path.
Prepare for the summoned spirit
Current walkthrough imagery appears to show a pale spirit-like figure, but footage alone does not prove its trigger, targeting, speed, or relationship to every amulet. The official badge wording remains the reliable link between a cursed amulet and its spirit.
Assign one tester and one distant observer. The observer should describe the spawn point, delay, movement, target changes, and the final cause of death without trying to rescue the tester through an unknown hazard.
Keep the Beast route in mind as a separate threat. If both threats appear, stop drawing conclusions about what caused movement, damage, or death unless the game clearly identifies it.
Run one controlled test
Record the pre-use state, then perform only the live interaction required by the item. Note whether the object is consumed, equipped, dropped, or remains present. Measure delay with ordinary timestamps instead of guessing from memory.
Observe where the spirit appears relative to the player and item, what visible or audible cues occur, and whether it follows through rooms or around obstacles. One encounter can document a sequence but cannot establish universal range or pathing.
If the goal is the official badge, verify the award after the spirit causes the death. A death from the Beast, hunger, another effect, or an environmental cause does not match the published wording.
Recover after the attempt
After respawn, check badge history, inventory, reputation, risk, season progress, and spawn state separately. Record what persisted. Do not assume the badge award restores or protects any item.
The surviving squad should regroup at the planned location before retrieving anything. If the spirit remains active, prioritize player safety. No reviewed official source guarantees a despawn timer or safe pickup window.
If no badge awards, preserve the exact sequence. Possible explanations include the wrong object, incomplete summon, different cause of death, prior badge ownership, award delay, or a beta issue.
Avoid common misinformation
Do not publish a fixed amulet spawn without current repeated evidence. Do not claim that every amulet is cursed. Do not assign damage, speed, duration, banishment, or immunity values from a single clip.
Keep medallions and cursed amulets distinct. The official badges describe buying a medallion and dying to a spirit summoned by a cursed amulet as separate objectives. Similar words do not prove shared shop, appearance, or mechanics.
Label player observations with build and date. If a later Post-Release Patch changes the item, earlier reports should remain clearly scoped rather than silently presented as current.
Cursed amulet FAQ
Can the summoned spirit be escaped?
No reviewed official source publishes an escape or despawn rule. A single successful escape would still need current, repeatable context.
Where are cursed amulets found?
No verified current location or drop rate was found. Use live prompts and avoid importing original-game locations.
Must I die for the badge?
The official description specifically says to die to the spirit summoned by a cursed amulet. Verify that you do not already have the badge before attempting it.
Is a cursed amulet the same as a medallion?
The official objectives use different terms and conditions. Treat them as separate item categories unless the current interface explicitly connects them.
